ONE-NORTH RESIDENCES
the aussie coffee bar. basically the unofficial canteen for everyone at block 71 and fusionopolis.
ORDER
flat white, smashed avo on sourdough, big breakfast on weekends.
WHY
if you only have time for one stop, make it this one. go before 11am if you want a seat.
The Bread Yard
GALAXIS
rustic bakery cafe at galaxis. they make the bread in-house with japanese and european techniques and it shows.
ORDER
truffle scrambled eggs, lobster pasta, the all-day breakfast.
WHY
best brunch in one-north. it's two doors down from one fattened calf if you want options.
Long Black
BIOPOLIS
tucked-away japanese-italian cafe inside biopolis. handmade pasta, freshly roasted beans, very calm.
ORDER
uni cream pasta, mentaiko spaghetti, hand-drip coffee.
WHY
this is where i go when i want to actually focus. closed on weekends though, fyi.
One Man Coffee
KINESIS / FUSIONOPOLIS 2
tiny grab-and-go from the same crew as the upper thomson original. mostly office workers in line.
ORDER
long black, almond croissant, banana bread.
WHY
the fastest decent coffee in fusionopolis. don't expect to sit, expect to walk.
Orange & Teal
ROCHESTER MALL
deep teal walls, warm orange lights. the most photogenic cafe in the cluster.
ORDER
mushroom truffle pizza, latte, lemon ricotta pancakes.
WHY
good for a long catch-up. the pizzas are surprisingly serious.

GALAXIS
the burger i keep texting you about. it's actually 'one fattened calf', not half-calf, but you know what i mean by now. tiny joint, house-baked potato buns, 150g grass-fed patties.
ORDER
ofc butterburger, goldburger (with pulled brisket on top), sweet potato fries.
WHY
best burger in the area, full stop. they sell out by 2pm. closed 3 to 5 between services.
UNA at One Rochester
ROCHESTER PARK
spanish charcoal grill in a colonial bungalow, big trees outside, fairy lights, very date night.
ORDER
iberico pork skewers, paella, sangria.
WHY
if you want a 'proper' dinner without leaving the area, this is it. book ahead on weekends.

Ristorante Pietrasanta
ROCHESTER PARK
tuscan trattoria in a black-and-white bungalow. unhurried, romantic, the real deal.
ORDER
handmade pasta of the day, osso bucco, tiramisu.
WHY
the most 'old italy' dinner you can have inside one-north. reservations on weekends or you won't get a table.
Pasta Fresca da Salvatore
THE STAR VISTA
old-school italian institution, pasta drying on display by the window.
ORDER
carbonara (real, no cream), seafood linguine, panna cotta.
WHY
reliable mall italian for a low-stress dinner with a group. nobody complains.
Peperoni Pizzeria
GREENWOOD AVENUE (10 MIN AWAY)
casual neighbourhood pizza spot. enormous thin-crust xxl pizzas you fold over, beer on tap.
ORDER
carne pizza (xxl), buratta salad, lemoncello shots.
WHY
10 minutes by cab and worth it. best when you're 4+ people and someone's hangry.

reliable hakata-style ramen, the warm-up-and-eat kind.

akamaru shinaji, side of gyoza, an extra kaedama.

my go-to rainy day lunch in this cluster. always works.

solid mid-tier japanese chain. conveyor belt energy without being a tourist trap.

same flaky croissants as the tiong bahru flagship, with way less queue.

easiest morning stop on the way into work. or on the way home.
